That was one of my resolutions for 2012.
Actually, the resolution was to run the Tower of Terror 10K.
Today I made a declaration: Six 5K’s and one 10K this year.
That is all good, except for one problem.
In my excitement of running a Disney race, I misread Tower of Terror 10 Miler for a 10K.
That’s right, 10 MILES!
For a week I have been thinking it’s a 10K. I’ve set my resolutions and plans around a 10K.
How did I misread? It’s a BOLD heading!! … I don’t know!
Now I have to wrap my head around 10 miles instead of 6 miles and change. Oy Vey!
One of two things needs to happen now.
- Change my declaration/resolution
- I have to push myself or I will never know what I am capable of.
I am thinking I need to bite this bullet and press on.
I guess 2012 is the year I find out what I am made of.
I’ve already started a desktop sticky notes with **possible** races for this year.
A few have become definite, they are at the bottom.
Seeing this list excites me and terrifies me at the same time.
I know I have an amazing support system. I know that I can do anything I set my mind to.
Setting the resolution to run a 10K was one thing.
Realizing what I thought was a 10K is really 10 miles is another.
Here’s to waking up early and logging the miles. Here’s to pushing myself to new limits.
Oh, and here’s to making sure I read and reread things before making resolutions or declarations. Geez!
LOL, maybe God thought you could handle a bit more. I think you can do it. Find any earlier 10K and do that too and then give it a go!
God has an ambitious sense of humor. 😉 Or maybe I should start wearing my reading glasses!
I say train for it and go for it!!! It’s in Sept correct? Plenty of time to prepare mentally for 4 more miles!
Yep. Last weekend of September.
I just found you but this is awesome! I think every thing happens for a reason so get training YOU CAN DO IT!!!! so excited for you. I am running a 10k in march…I think 10miles would kill me but I’d do it in disney! 😀
Yeah girl you can do this! It’s a great way to push you even farther than you planned this new year!
I think that racing it in September sounds very manageable – yes your schedule will get more intense, but if you put the work in now, I think you’ll actually find it to be a great distance!
I think you’ll do great. Maybe I need to sign up for a distance that will push me. I’m doing a 10k in March. Eeek! Use the workouts as a stress reducer.
Reducing stress! That is going to be what pushes me through this!
You can do it. ToT is my fave Disney ride by the way!
You can do it!
You can do it 🙂
You can! You can! You can! You can! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! The progression from 6 miles to 10 miles is much easier than the progression from 1 mile to 3 miles. You have plenty of time to do this, and I know you can! YAY!
10 miles? You totally got this! Cheering you on, Sabrina! 🙂
