Weekly Recap: Week 4

Every Sunday morning (hopefully) I will be posting a recap of the previous week (Sunday – Saturday). It will consist of all workouts from the previous week and my weigh in from that morning.

Weigh In:

1/1/2014: 222.0
Previous week: 222.0
Current: 222.2

+ .2 pounds!

Honestly, I didn’t have the best week. I was eating crap I knew I should eat just because I thought it would make me feel better. It didn’t. Have I told you that I am an emotional eater?

I want to break free of these 220’s. Progress always makes me a little more mindful about what I am eating. Honestly, I feel like I have been stuck here for months, and the truth is that I have been. Lack of progress leaves me feeling very lackadaisical and that isn’t the right mindset for healthy living.

Workouts:

1/19 – none

1/20 – none

1/21 – 30 minutes of intervals at 1 run / 2 walk. Total of 2 miles

1/22 – Arms day. Completed two full arms circuits in 30 minutes.

1/22 – 30 minutes of intervals at 1 run / 2 walk. Total 2 miles.

1/23 – 1 mile walk.

1/24 – none

I am really glad I got all these workouts in, regardless of how much I was hating them at the time. I am sure these workouts really helped me not gain more than .2 pounds this week. Thank goodness for small favors.

This upcoming week I want to be mindful of my eating again. Last night Alex and I went grocery shopping and brought home a haul of $130 total. Lots of fruits, veggies, and healthy snack options. Along with some other stuff for the boy.

Here’s to a healthy week!

I Hate Intervals

I feel like intervals are a necessary part of my training and success. I hate them, but I hope they  will make me better/faster/stronger in the long run.

I’ve been using my favorite button on the treadmill to crank out a few interval workouts over the past week. Including one this morning.

speed interval

During one of my run intervals I started wondering; Will this would ever get easier?

Will I ever be able to run more than 1 minute at this speed and do it consistently through a workout?

When will I be able to decrease my walk times?

When will a minute of running not feel like 5 minutes?

Will this ever feel like more than just a workout?

I am absolutely the kind of girl who wants instant results and instant progress, but I know the reality of the situation all too well. It just doesn’t work like that. More than anything I want to feel like I am progressing, like things are getting easier, and that I may actually be successful at an upcoming 5k that I am registered for.

That’s right. Alex and I are registered for a 5k on March 1st. The Best Damn Race in Orlando, Florida. I am not sure I’ve ever finished a 5k in under 15 minutes, and that is my goal for this race. There will be a lot of intervals between now and March 1st, but someway or somehow I will finish in under 45 minutes.

The rest of the race season is undecided. We have a few races on our radar, both this spring and this fall, but we haven’t bit the bullet yet.

In due time, Sabrina. In due time.

Weekly Recap: Week 2

Every Sunday morning (hopefully) I will be posting a recap of the previous week (Sunday – Saturday). It will consist of all workouts from the previous week and my weigh in from that morning.

Coming to you late on a Sunday evening because I had a rather special day (more on this later) that words can not adequately describe. Events today happened just when I needed them to.

Weigh in:

Today –  223.4
Previous Week –  220.0
Start on 1/1/2014 – 222.0
Difference since 1/1/2014 –  +1.4 pounds

Not my best week, and certainly not how I hoped the second week of a new year would go. On Wednesday I banged my foot on a pallet at work which it swollen for the better part of 3 days. Wearing sneakers for work was really uncomfortable, let alone to workout in. Needless to say I didn’t get any more workouts in after that and emotional eating took over. As reflected in this weeks weigh in.

Workouts:

1/5 – Slow and Steady Workout

1/6 – none

1/7 – Intense Treadmill Sprints

1/8 – none (hurt foot at work)

1/9 – none

1/10 – none

1/11 – none

My foot is feeling better (still a bit tender to but no more swelling!), but I am looking forward to the week ahead and I am oddly excited to get back in the gym tomorrow.

What was great about your weekend?!
