I am feeling very distracted and unattached from my writing, so I am going to get right to the point of this post.
Like every other Wednesday, yesterday was weigh in day. It was also my first doctor’s appointment with a new physician (Dr. Z). Coincidentally, that meant a second weigh in. Joy.
Starting Weight (January 2nd): 221.0
Previous Weeks Weight: 221.2
Current Weeks Weight: 222.2
Total (from start): +1.2 pounds
Weight at the doctor’s office: 224.8
For tracking and blogging purposes, I am going to use the weigh ins that I record at home.
Dr. Z is a woman’s health specialist that a friend referred me to.
Despite her creditably, I was a nervous wreck and almost never went to the appointment. All things considered, it wasn’t a bad first visit. I kind of like Dr. Z. She requested blood work be done, asked a lot of questions, and let me talk about anything I felt was important. It was comforting to know that I would soon have some answers and that this was an important first step.
By the end of my appointment Dr. Z concluded that, more than likely, my body does not process carbs the way a normal body should. She will know more once all my test results come back, but she suggested I any carb intake to before noon until she has firm results. She continued to explain that limiting carbs to only the first few hours of my day will give my body time to process them.
Dr. Z does not want to over haul my life or my diet until she has all the facts. She would rather start with simple changes that I can control (no carbs after noon), rather than prescribing medications, implementing big lifestyle changes, and recommending unnecessary therapies.
I have a follow-up scheduled, so we’ll see how this plays out.
Good-bye PM carbs! You probably weren’t good for me anyways.
