We arrived at Walt Disney World one week ago today. Wow! I had been anxiously awaiting Thursday, September 27th, 2012 for weeks. In the final days I was giddy with excitement. And now it’s a fond memory.
We arrived early Thursday morning and our room was already prepped for our arrival. At 10am! Thanks Disney! Alex and I unloaded the car, settled into our suite, and then headed off to Animal Kingdom while we waited for his parents to arrive.
Alex’s parents arrived mid afternoon and we headed back to the hotel to meet up with them. We had early dinner reservations, so we cleaned up and caught a bus to EPCOT. We had dinner reservations at the Coral Reef Restaurant. (Click here for Recap and review on dinner.)
EPCOT is always a fun place to visit because there is so much culture, diversity, history, and beer! Alex’s parents had their own dinner reservations so we met back up with them in the beautiful country of France! Paris at sunset is breathtaking!
Before we knew it Day 1 was over. We watched the first works show and then made our way back to the hotel.
Day 2, Friday, started just as early as Day 1. 6am! Good thing Alex’s parents are early risers because Alex and I were still out for the count. We had breakfast reservations as Chef Mickey’s at 7:25am. (Click here for Chef Mickey’s review and recap.)
We hopped on the MOST AWESOME monorail (AVENGERS!) and rode back to EPCOT for the kick off of the Food and Wine Festival! (Click here for my recap of the festival.)
Soon it was time for the Health and Fitness EXPO! It all became real here. Disney sure does know how to put together an EXPO. Everything was wonderful. The workers and volunteers were helpful and attentive. The swag was fantastic (but this was the first time we got race swag so I don’t have anything to compare it to)! The vendors were all on point too. It was easy to get caught up in the excitement of everything while chatting with so many like-minded people.
We had a few hours before Alex’s brother, Chris, and his girlfriend (Erica) would arrive for the weekend. I had one thing on my mind: NAP! Once Chris and Erica arrive we ventured out to find dinner and ended up at Crossroads at the House of Blues – Downtown Disney. None of us were super impressed with the vibe or dinner, so I won’t have a recap of this meal.
The night ended on a high note with shopping, dancing, and eating ice cream sundae’s from Ghirardelli! Can’t go wrong there!
I’ll leave you with a few pictures from the EXPO.
