By the time most of you read this I will be volunteering at an event (I am actually getting paid, so I suppose it’s not really volunteer work). I get to do it again on Friday. So I will be more disconnected than usual during the day! I will be playing catch up when I get home both nights.
Shoes. I got new running shoes! A few weeks ago I went to the local running store, got fitted, did some walking, some running, and tried on shoe after shoe. I just couldn’t bring myself to spending $100 for new running shoes. Something you need to know about me is that I am quite frugal. Those heels I splurged on, they were on sale. Most of my clothes come from sale racks; at outlet stores! So spending on running shoes was hard to swallow.
After another painful run on Sunday I knew I had to bite the bullet, but I was still having trouble with the idea of $100 dollar shoes. I called my big brother for some advice and he told me about the shoes his knee Dr. recommended. Coincidentally, it was the same brand of shoes my Ortho Dr recommended to me when I was playing soccer and getting shin splints.
ASICS! I skipped the return trip to the running store and headed to the mall. I knew what I was looking for based on the info I had gained during my fitting session at the running store. I tried on a few different pairs before finding a pair that made me feel like I was floating on clouds! SOLD!
And they were on SALE!
SheShe asked if I always run outside. The answer is yes! I don’t have a gym memebership, again with the frugal thing. Last summer I wasn’t really running, but this summer I will try to workout earlier in the morning so I can avoid heat of the day.
Skates. Wednesday morning I started my typical day, but didn’t feel like running. I made a hot date with Jillian. Can I just say that I really hate doing squat and press?!?
Workout, done! Off run errands and help my niece with her 2nd grade project. Out of NO WHERE I got the brilliant idea to go to Play It Again Sports. A few weeks ago James, a Prior Fat Guy, posted about roller blades and now it was all I could suddenly think about! I just bought new running shoes, I did not need to spend money on roller blades. “But what if they are used?” I asked myself!
They had new ones that were really pretty looking, and “like new” used ones that were kind of plain.

I made my purchase, going with the used ones, and saved some cash money in doing so! Then it was off to the races and I couldn’t get home soon enough! I dug my workout clothes from earlier out of the hamper and was ready to blaze the trails!
K2 is the brand of skate I got. Both skates I was considering were the same brand, a darn good one too!

My secret to doing two workouts in one day? It was FUN! Find that activity you love and do it everyday!

One last victory of the day. I’ve been doing it for a while, but today I actually noticed.
